Shoot for Beehive

What does it take to shoot for Beehive?

We aren't lying when we say that we expect a lot. Here are our baseline requirements:

  • Minimum of three summer seasons shooting weddings
  • Minimum of 50 weddings as primary shooter
  • Full frame digital camera (Canon or Nikon preferred)
  • Professional backup camera
  • Ability to shoot in low light situations

Whoa. Why would someone with those credentials want to do lower-paying photo work?

It's a way for them to be able to get extra work without diluting their brand and to fill holes in their midweek and offseason times. This generates leads. Leads cost money. And you'll never have to take any work that you don't think is worth the price. If you don't like it, don't book it.

Okay, I'm in. What do I do?

Send an email to ben@beehivebride.com. Tell us about your experience. Send us a link to your portfolio. We'll dig in from there. You can expect some phone calls and general validation that you're a legit business. We'll go from there.

So would I be an employee?

No. Beehive is essentially a referral service. You're still the same independent contractor photographer you are today. You'd be paid a fixed contract rate by Beehive for your work. If you hit the IRS threshold, we'll mail you a 1099 in January. Let us know if you'd like for us to pay you directly or through your photography business.

Do I have to sign a non-compete?

No. No photographer should ever sign one of those.
